On Friday evening, October 25, 2019, SOAR Café and Farms sponsored a Masquerade Gala at the Country Club of Jackson. The event was designed to be a fundraiser for the SOAR House. What an amazing, entertaining evening it was for those who were present! The decorations and atmosphere were simply magical. As attenders mingled, admiring one another’s creative masks and lovely formal attire, they consumed delicious hors d’oeuvres and discovered a myriad of surprises. As they moved about the venue, they encountered a mime on stilts, an ice sculptor, a magician, an illustrator sketching caricatures, an artist with an unusual method of creating a plaster picture, a display of SOAR manufactured merchandise, and even had the opportunity to participate in the creativity by painting a community painting, guided by an artist.
As the evening progressed and people took their seats at their festively decorated tables, they were first entertained by a beautiful operatic vocalist and later serenaded by a roaming saxophonist while consuming a delicious dinner. Following the meal, there was a touching, interpretive dance which served as a vignette of inner healing from trauma, followed by a video that allowed attenders to see and hear the mission of SOAR coupled with a challenge by Michelle Cochran, Founder and President of SOAR. Afterward, many enjoyed a wonderful time on the dance floor, which was the perfect finish to an extraordinary night.
The Masquerade Gala successfully raised funds for the SOAR House and helped people gain a better understanding of what is needed to bring healing and love to women who have been damaged by trafficking, abuse, and addiction. Thank you to all those who spent countless hours behind the scenes working out the details necessary to provide a truly unforgettable evening
